Take on Web3: Navigating the Web3 Revolution

Interview with Raj Kapoor, founder of the India Blockchain Alliance

By Naman Gupta

In this interview, we had the pleasure of speaking with Raj Kapoor, the founder of India Blockchain Alliance. Raj Kapoor is a well-known figure in the blockchain space, and he shared some valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities for developers looking to enter the Web3 world.

Naman Gupta: Raj, thank you for joining us today. What do you see as the biggest challenge for developers trying to enter the Web3 space?

Raj Kapoor: One of the primary challenges is a lack of awareness about the available resources. On the flip side, there’s also an issue of too many resources, which can be overwhelming. Developers often find themselves in a state of confusion. They might claim to understand blockchain but falter when tested on their skills. This discrepancy arises because many educational programs are subpar. They are either hastily put together or simply copied from other sources, without a genuine focus on education.

Naman Gupta: That’s an interesting perspective. So, what’s the solution to this problem of confusion among developers?

Raj Kapoor: Developers need proper guidance. They are talented individuals, but they lack mentors. In India, there’s a scarcity of experienced professionals willing to share their knowledge. This needs to change. Knowledge, just like technology, should be decentralized and shared. We’re talking about a decentralized, distributed technology; why not distribute knowledge, too?

Naman Gupta: Absolutely, mentorship is crucial. Another challenge developers face is the rapidly evolving nature of Web3. How can they cope with this ever-changing landscape?

Raj Kapoor: It’s important to stick to fundamentals. Instead of trying to learn every new blockchain that emerges, start with fundamentals. Ethereum serves as a benchmark, and understanding its core concepts will make it easier to adapt to other blockchains. Avoid overthinking; it’s like learning to write. Start with the basics and gradually build complexity. Also, consider learning about Layer 2 and Layer 0 technologies; they are key to the future.

Naman Gupta: You make a good point about starting with fundamentals. It’s crucial to build a strong base. Now, let’s talk about developers who are already in the Web3 space but face challenges in scaling their projects. What advice do you have for them?

Raj Kapoor: Developers with innovative ideas sometimes struggle with scaling because they lack guidance and marketing skills. Marketing is often underestimated, but it’s essential. Even the best product won’t succeed if it’s not effectively marketed. Scaling often requires partnering with individuals or teams who understand marketing or finding ways to integrate their projects with existing platforms. It’s a journey, and taking calculated risks is part of it.

Naman Gupta: That’s a valuable insight. Sometimes, developers forget the importance of marketing their products effectively. Now, what is your take on “no code” or “low code” platforms? Can they help bridge the gap for developers?

Raj Kapoor: Absolutely. “No code” and “low code” platforms can be seen as a bridge between Web2 and Web3. They make it easier for developers to create applications without diving deep into complex coding. Anything that simplifies processes tends to gain traction. These platforms can accelerate Web3 adoption by providing accessible tools for developers.

Naman Gupta: Great insights, Raj. Finally, do you have any parting words of advice for developers navigating the Web3 landscape?

Raj Kapoor: My advice to developers is simple: focus on creating real-world solutions that solve actual problems. Don’t get lost in fantasy and fiction; the real value lies in solving real problems. Web3 is a revolution, and those who make meaningful contributions to the real world will have a lasting impact.

In this interview, Raj Kapoor shared his wisdom on entering the Web3 world. He emphasized the importance of guidance, marketing, and real-world solutions. Developers looking to thrive in this evolving landscape should remember that Web3 is a journey, and by taking calculated risks and leveraging available resources, they can be at the forefront of this exciting revolution.
